Cross Fashion & The Arch Bishop of Canterbury

Does fashion devalue the meaning of the cross?

So today, whilst browsing the Vogue website for the latest fashion updates for my daily dose of fashion news I came across this bad boy piece.

"Are we now living with a symbol emptied of power by time and fashion? Christianity with a powerless Cross is Christianity without a throne for Christ or an aspiration for Christians," he continued. "A Cross that has no weight is not worth carrying."

So fellow fashionistas - Thoughts ? Views? Opinions?

Now i'm an inner indie kinda gal. I like free flowing indie and indie grunge fashion. I see how the Arch Bishop of Canterbury is entitled to an opinion, afterall he is a figure head, however I can't help but wonder if this whole senario is debatable.

I came to the conclusion. It is.

Does it not promote Christianity to an ever disbelieving atheist society?
