Cutting Up The Credit Card

Cutting Up The Credit Card

Recently I've been finding buying bits and bobs here and there all too easy. I'm talking about that lipstick you have to 'have'. The travel minis that you crave due to the kitsch packaging and cute little pots, despite the fact you have the full size project at home, not to mention the abundance of mac sample pots you possess that you can decant into.

I don't have a typical job. I don't have a set routine and traveling so much exposes me to new places and ultimately new products. For the past couple of months I've been picking bits and bobs up without thinking about the true cost because I'm adding it to my monthly credit card bill. Boy-oh-boy, when that bill arrives you know it! It bangs and thuds onto your doormat when it falls out of the letterbox. My last statement was pages and page of little 'bits and bobs' here and there that simply weren't essentials. I've been adding to my beauty collection excessively and I don't think there is any actual, rational need for it. I've actually been pretty gready.  No amount of blogging will justify it either.

First Week of Uni

First week of Uni

Hello It's Clo!

So, the first week of university is over. I'm on a train home for my dad's birthday and on reflection, I think I've settled in pretty well, to the point that leaving my uni flat, feels like leaving home.

Living away from home has given me more independence and responsibility for myself. I thought I was pretty good and grown up pre Uni, but I've pleasantly surprised myself. I feel like a fully fledged grown up now.

Fashion St London

Fashion St London

Before flying off to America, I visited Istituto Marangoni in London. Istituto Marangoni is on Fashion Street (How apt for a fashion university.) Fashion St is the epitome of culture, art, design and creativity. It's like real life pinterst. Everywhere you look there are doodles, ads and accents each individually added by artists and creatives alike to leave their own mark on London.

Food Diary Of A Uni Student - Day 1

Food Diary Of A Uni Student - Day 1

In a bid to keep my parents well in-formed and allow myself to budget better I'm starting an online food diary. Very teenage girl counting calories,
but I need to keep track of what I'm eating and what I'm cooking!

So here it is! Day 1.

Lunch In Covent Garden

Lunch In Covent Garden

After my first night at University myself and a few of my flat mates decided to go and explore. Before heading to London Fashion week we stopped in Covent Garden for a quick bite. I unfortunately couldn't eat anything on the menu due to allergies, but I can highly recommend their Americano. The black coffee is on bean (Excuse the pun,) great for gearing you up for the day ahead.

Moving Into Uni

Moving Into Uni

It's now early morning (haha, It's actually super late, hence why I think it's morning!) and it's fair to say it's been a long day. I set off early this morning with all my things packed tightly into the back of my dads car and three hours later we arrived at my new home. It was only when we drove into the town of the university that I started to get butterflies and had that sudden panic of 'Will anyone like me?'

Once I'd moved all my things into my halls flat, I had a little look around. There was no sign of life in the flat, food in the fridge, letters on the counter but nobody home. I worried that I may be alone, in silence for some time. Lunch was next on the itinerary and after grabbing a drink I headed to Waitrose to pick up some of the larger Items such as Soya cartons, flour and juice which, without the use of a car, I simply couldn't physically get to my flat.

On my return to the flat, after my goodbyes, I decided to unpack my food and put it into my cupboard, there were only two cupboards left and a scappy holdall under the sink, that had seriously looked like it had seen better days. I decided now was as good a time as any to get the cleaning supplies out and the rubber gloves on!

Bursting at the Seams

Bursting at the Seams

Currently in a conundrum. Am I taking too much to University?

I've been beyond prepared, as I discussed in my previous Uni post but when I look at all the bags, boxes and suitcases I do worry A) How we're getting it into the car and B) If I'm taking triple what everyone else is and I'm going to look like Elle Woods rocking up to Harvard, Legally Blonde circa 2000 and ultimately looking like a dick 'ed.

I've got everything I need, everything I want and I simply couldn't take less, I just couldn't. I'm prepared for every eventuality, except skiing which honestly, isn't on my current radar.

Realisation

Realisation

Tomorrow, I move out of the home I've lived in since I was 6 months old to go and join half a million other students and go to university.

Many of my friends are already at 'Freshers' and have moved out from home. I'm the next one to go and up until yesterday I was happily packing away getting things ready to cast off and go to uni. I wasn't emotional at all, until late last night when I got upset for absolutely no reason.

73 Questions with Anna Wintour

73 Questions with Anna Wintour

What a great little video! Many people think Anna Wintour is harsh and un-approchable / untouchable, that's just not the case. This video really highlights that she's human too.

Can't believe she doesn't like broccoli.
I don't think we could be friends ;)

Embarking on a New Adventure

Embarking on a New Adventure

Sitting, legs crossed on my fresh new bed sheets. Listening to Maroon 5 in the Live Lounge with Fearne Cotton. Maroon 5 are reminising on their career and their music, the timing is amps as i too am in a stage of reminising. I grew up on Maroon 5 music and now I too am preparing for the next stage of life, Maroon 5 are on album 5, appropriately titled 'V.' I am preparing to move to University this weekend and start the next chapter of my education.

No One's Perfect : Hello I'm Clo

No One's Perfect

Since I arrived in New York last week, I’ve had a lot of down time that’s not filled with internet musings and online tabloaid gossip. I have, in essence be detached from my life in England as well as my life online. It’s really shocked me on reflection, at just how much I do spend online and how little it actually matters in the grand scheme of things.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Not only this, but I’ve been horrified to see myself in my family holiday snaps (Photographs.) It appears that the late nights glued to screens, eating whilst working and my attachment to Pershwari narn has finally caught up with me. I have honestly never felt less glamorous.  New York isn’t as glamorous as it is portrayed but all the same, I’ve felt pretty yuck.

This time last year it was my skin, and my skin only that concerned my daily ridiculing. Now it’s my weight, my shape and my ever changing female figure. It appears we never really are satisfied by our own beauty.

Time Off : Hello I'm Clo

Time Off : Hello I'm Clo

Hello I'm Clo and I haven't taken a family holiday in 10 years!

Hi all, hope you're well. You may have noticed the blog has been a little quiet this month, that's because I'm running about prepping for Uni as well as planning to take a holiday!

The skin project hasn't come to an end, I fully intend to have it as a regular feature however, I'm not going to put myself under pressure to create content that will ultimately, if produced under time constraints, be crap. I'll pick it back up in about a months time so you can see the results of freshers kicking in on my skin! (Wahay!)

Maybelline Dream Touch Lumi Concealer Pen : Hello I'm Clo

Maybelline Dream Touch Lumi Concealer Pen : Hello I'm Clo

As good as the YSL touche eclat?

Hello I'm Clo!

After hearing so many great things about the Maybelline Touch / Dream Lumi Concealer I thought it was about time I tried it out for myself. It's been likened to and 'Duped' for the Yves Saint Laurent YSL Touche Eclat.  Bloggers rejoiced when the touch lumi was released it's a more affordable conceal and highlight duo in a handy carry - around pen. In the UK the pen is bought as a pen, alone else where it arrives on card with written how to use instructions.
