I write this from a lovely and cosy Cafe Nero, opposite Belfast's City Hall (Above), to chill for a few hours before getting my flight back home. Cafe Nero has got plugs and friendly staff and their earl grey tea tastes suspiciously like pizza. Leaving me thinking 'Is the tea infused? or have I just been sipping from a dirty cup?' Regardless, it's warm and did I mention they have plugs?
So with my phone now getting its juice and me with my brew, I've had chance to reflect on the past few days in Belfast.
Being away for just a few days has rejuvenated and relaxed me after what can only be described as a stressful university semester. For me there's no better intervention than being dropped into an unknown city and having to figure out the rest. Wandering, exploring and stopping to observe the world around me, without pressure, deadlines or places to be and people to see. I could get caught in the rain, lost in Belfast's history and take life at a leisurely pace.
Over the passed three days I've toured city halls, libraries and the Northern Ireland Parliament. I've been to the Lyric theatre to see Educating Rita, the Movie House cinema for Pride Prejudice and Zombies and the Ulster Museum art galleries. Sat on the open top city sightseeing tour busses and got caught in the rain.
Stylist, Vogue, Pride and Prejudice and Girl Boss have all been on reading rotation; as has my selection of teas, coffees and frothy hot chocolates. Kicking back, chilling out and taking some down time has been amazing.
All too often we forget to give ourselves a time out, we forget to give ourselves more choice, it's great to slow the pace and feel completely free to do whatever I please.
Here are some of the photos I took whilst in Belfast, there's just a few but I think they capture the architecture of the city really well and the really cold, wet weather!
Titanic Museum, Belfast
Titanic Studios, where they film Game Of Thrones.
Northern Ireland Parliament and where I got caught in the rain!
So now in a completely relaxed and rejuvenated state I'm ready to head back home with a fresh and clear head, totally prepared for my summer internship!
