Brain Dump 01

My thoughts on life and a little bit of what I've been up-to recently...

When I find myself in a creative rut, I like to change things up a little, to have a fresh and new perspective in a fresh and new space. I've always loved changing my room around, moving the furniture or creating a display of all my current favourite frames, collages and plants and caught feeling a little bland and boring, a Spring clean was in order for my little home studio. Hoover and polish at the ready I spent my Sunday off sorting and cleaning my little pad. It doesn't matter how many times I buy cute Muji storage, sort my Ikea Alex or de-clutter my wardrobe, I always question why and how I accumulate so much 'stuff'! So after another huge sort out I've decided I'm really going to be jumping on the 'Tidy life, tidy mind' train to go full speed ahead into my third year of university (Ahhh!)

The 1975's new album Is my new musical bae and covers me for any situation and mood bar clubbing and the gym. It's perfect for my morning commute to work. I saw The 1975 at Glasgow's Radio One Big Weekend a few years ago and pawing through The 1975's old stuff makes me long for the days where my crop 'do was in corn-rows and I was front row with a bum bag and didn't pee for 8 hours in fear of loosing my space, oh those fun and free festival days.

In preparation for our move back to London we've been buying our homewares in dribs and drabs. Whilst John Lewis makes me feel like a proper grown up with their fresh and trendy shiny displays, their price points are not ideal on a student budget, so i've had to find an alternative in Tiger. Tiger's homeware is really lovely, affordable and accessible. It's my mini and accessible Ikea. Kitchen bits and pieces such as shot glasses (essential,) utensils and other homey pieces are just some of the things I've been adding to my kitchen collection in the past couple of weeks.

Living by the motto 'Work hard- Play hard.' I let off some well earned steam by dancing my way through Friday night in central Birmingham with a big group of friends. I forgot how good it is just to let loose and dance. It's fare to say my knees felt it the following morning! There's nothing better than just going out to have a great time, getting dressed up ( In my emergency 'I don't know what to wear' black jumpsuit,) putting on and dancing in amazing shoes and laughing until you need to pee.

A girly lunch turned into a mighty catch up and chill by the fire in Pitcher and Piano, Brindley Place. Spending the afternoon in great company having a good old catch up is so cathartic, It reminded me that we should all assign more time to see how our friends are doing instead of fleeting, quick and easy texts and whats-apps. It's nice to sit down and have a real, no tech conversation.

My hair has gone beyond having a bad bush moment, It's terrible! I've been struggling for a while to book in with a hairdresser to have it cut into something other than 'Bush' and have finally booked an appointment, now the difficult decision of what I want it cut into.. Pinterest may be a good source of inspiration me thinks!
