Notes Coffee House on St Martin's Lane, a hop skip and a jump away from Trafalgar Square holds a special place in my heart. It's not for its terrific home roasted, ethically sourced coffee or its chilled out inner-city vibe, It's because it was the setting of my first date with Ad. Suffice to say the date went well, haha, we have been together over a year.
With a matinee of ABBA's Mama Mia over at the Novello Theatre we spent our morning meandering through Seven Dials, down The Strand and finally, cutting the dodgy corners of Trafalgar Square to get to Notes.
Note's is a no frills, straight to the good stuff, inner London coffee chain with a bunch of branches sprinkled across the city. With a focus on coffee sourcing, coffee grinding and coffee serving. It's the place to go if, like me you're a real coffee lover. Their prices are really reasonable for London too, for both eat in and take away.
On our 1st visit to Notes I opted for a perfect temperature soya mocha (Soy drinkers, you know where I'm coming from temperature wise). Ad opted for an espresso and over coffee we sat and talked for hours tucked away on the wooden benches right at the back of the coffee house. This time round, the bench was taken by a couple who looked like their date was not going to plan! We sat at the canteen table surrounded by techies plugged in, pre-meeting meetings and suits strapping on the caffeine for the day ahead.
A long black was the tall order of the day and a generous slice of pistachio chocolate cake for me and an apple and raspberry juice along side a ham and cheese toastie . We both opted for a hot and a cold and sat for an hour chatting away and thoroughly enjoying our down time, without the time pressures of day-to-day life.
Comfy, relaxed and super located. It hits all the right notes (Oh, the fun of puns.) and I'll definitely be adding it to my 'Study Spaces' list for University next year!
