Fashion: Vintage White Scalloped Blouse

My new vintage white blouse from Rock Follies Vintage

I've been doing really well at Rock Follies Vintage recently. It's not too far from where I'm currently working back home and I often pop in after work to have a gander through their treasure trove of vintage clothing, shoes and accessories.

It's a jam packed space full of sparkles, sequins and vintage prints and patterns. I love searching through the racks for perfect vintage finds and challenging myself  style wise by mixing modern and vintage together to create a completely unique and individual look for myself.

Such pretty detailing

Everything I've tried on recently in Rock Follies I've ended up buying. I find I have to try vintage on to get to grips with the sizing, so when I found this white scalloped blouse, marked as a 12 I tried it on for size. I prefer blouses to be oversized so my boobs fit in and I can play with the styling of the bottom half of the shirt: tucked in, left out, half in/ half out worn with dungarees, jeans or a skirt. There's plenty of aesthetic options with a blouse, that's for sure.

A fashion staple, regardless of decade
A little oversized, but beautiful tucked into high waisted jeans, I could envisage it fitting right into my wardrobe and at £8 it was a no-brainer.

The contrast of the scallop to the lines

The price fairly reflected the condition; preloved, warn and old! A few bobbles here and there, but nothing major that I couldn't fix. I fell in love with the unusual scalloping detailing on the neck and cuffs and the contrast with the vertical stripes down the middle.

Delicate, feminine detailing

I'm not sure where this item's life started as the tags have been removed, including the care label, it's a mystery. Judging by the feel of the material I'd say it's polyester with cotton detailing and I'm going to wash it on a low washing machine temperature with a little add white powder to freshen up the colour and bring it brightly into 2017.

Pre-loved with love still to give

The sleeves have such thoughtful detailing, unlike anything you could get on the high street today, which is why I'm going to keep the sleeves as they are, rather than rolling them up like I usually would!

Signs of wear, adding to the character

Lovely, tiny detailing

It's a perfect piece that slides right into my wardrobe among my other vintage pieces as well as high street pieces. A white blouse is always a wardrobe staple for both work and play, to dress up and dress down. I know this was a good buy that I'll get plenty of pleasure and wear out of! Keep an eye on my Instagram, where I'll post outfit photos once it's been through the wash!

Loose botton, ideal to wear tucked into jeans
Finally, I'll share Rock Follies vintage mantra in the picture below, which I think Is lovely. I always feel very welcome at Rock Follies and am proud to sustainably source my clothes and support a small, independent business.
