Fashion: Stripy 70s Tailored Blazer

Vintage tailored jacket from the 70s

This 70s number is a FIND. Capitol FIND and everything. Bought from my current vintage local (Rock Follies Vintage, Worcester) whilst I was rummaging through their racks late in January. This vintage tailored blazer is from the 70's and has a divine shape to it, that gives me a waist and flatters in all the right places, which Is an interesting concept for someone who when usually is cut off at the thighs looses about a ft of aesthetic height. It must be the stripes.

Speaking of stripes… aren't they amazing! Brightly coloured, rainbow stripes, it makes me think about retro cricket umpires and prep school school boys. Safe to say I won't be style channelling my inner school boy when I wear it and there will not be a boater hat in sight! I promise!

Originally from Reldan, it's wool so needs to be dry cleaned and they dry cleaned only. So it's off to the cleaners this week for a spruce up. In the mean time I've been looking at how i'm going to style it. I typically roll up my sleeves and I never wear skinny jeans without a two inch roll up (It's kinda my thing!) so the sleeves will always be turned up to add some further shape and figure definition.

It was the colour and pattern that made me want it, but it was once I had it on that I knew that it was for me. The proportions were perfect. Really really lovely, nipping in at all the right places, enhancing my natural figure with the cut of the clothes, that's one of the many things I love about vintage. It's a small size 12 and comes complete with a full set of buttons and a spare. It's in fantastic condition, you wouldn't even know it was pre-loved!

I can't wait for the summer, when I can wear this blazer over a plain t-shirt, jeans and converse for a casual day or with my wedge cut out heart shape wedges from Iron Fist for the evening, talk about mixing styles!

Another great piece from Rock Follies!
